The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is comprised of seven Emirates;
Abu Dhabi (The Capital Of the UAE), Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al-Khaimah, Umm Al-Qwain,
Fujarah and located in the south eastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. Its total land
area is 82,880 kms and has an estimated population of 4 million with up to 80 per cent being
expatriate.
Language
The official language of the UAE is Arabic. Other languages
spoken are English, Hindi, Farsi. A large number of
the expatriate population are from the sub-continent,
Philippines, Iran etc. So you will find Tagalog, Malayalam,
Russian etc.
Currency
The United Arab Emirates currency is called the Dirham.

The UAE has the world’s third largest oil reserves,
and fifth largest natural gas reserves, estimated at
100 billion barrels and 220 trillion cubic feet respectively.
At present levels of production, oil and gas reserves
should last for more than 100 years.
The UAE is the third largest economy in the Middle
East, a major player in the world energy markets and
one of the highest per capita incomes in the world ($
21,100 GDP / Capita). It has an open economy and trade
system with a maximum duty on most goods of five per
cent. Its wealth is based on oil and gas output (about
33% of GDP)
The non-oil sectors of the UAE economy presently contribute
more than two-thirds of the total country’s GDP.
Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE, the richest Emirate,
has 94 % of the country’s oil reserves, covering
87 % of the UAE total area and the home to 38 % of the
population.
